Workers of Excellence

Performance by Örkény István Theatre

For the first time in its history, Örkény Theatre is working on a production whose leads are not actors. The members of the company will support everyday heroes, dedicated professionals, without whose work the country would grind to a halt in no time. They are the representatives of the caregiving professions, who work for us – often, instead of us – persistently but unnoticed. They are social workers, carers for children and the elderly, healthcare professionals, mothers who care for their children at home. They are there in our lives from birth till death, yet we hardly know anything about them. Their work is vital, but we fail to appreciate them sufficiently.
Workers of Excellence is a production based on their true-life stories, brought together by the creative contribution of the actors. It probes social operations we take for granted, local and global problems, the function of theatre, the value of caregiving, and our collective image of what it is to be human.

Theatre performance in Hungarian.
