Dante: Inferno

#doorbell
  1. Performed by: József Gyabronka

Dante completed The Divine Comedy seven hundred years ago, in 1321, the year of his death. Our play is based on the part of his mystical journey that takes place in Hell, where he meets, in the company of his guide, Virgil, sinners who not only influenced their own ages, but lived and died in ways that hold lessons for posterity. Gluttons, frauds, lustful lovers, thieves, murderers, suicides, diviners, flatterers, profiteers, sowers of discord, traitors mill around on the infernal scenes. In 2016 Ádám Nádasdy published a new Hungarian translation of The Divine Comedy, which has changed our attitude to what is an undeniably important, yet hard-to-access, masterpiece.

During a dinner following the performance, Ádám Nádasdy and the creators will discuss the work with the audience.
