Zoltán Egressy: No, no. Thank You – premiere

#doorbell
  1. Performed by: Ági Gubík

When did the public prosecutor in her thirties start drinking her coffee without sugar, and why? Why did she commit something horrible? Zoltán Egressy’s monologue is a confession about the path to the act, about a trauma that haunted her throughout her life: about having been molested as a child, the failure to process it, the resulting uncertainty, and the series of failures this caused. There is also talk of first love, and a family of odd figures – delivered with an economy of means, simply, with humour and self-irony, without self-pity.
“I can take any empty space and call it a bare stage. A man walks across this empty space whilst someone else is watching him, and this is all is for an act of theatre to be engaged, says Peter Brook. I have always been interested in this kind of theatre. I’m sitting in that empty space and telling a story to those who are watching me. Starting from, and returning to, the mystery of storytelling, without the frills, without directorial solutions imposed upon it.” (Ági Gubík)

Theater performance in Hungarian.
