Elfogadás Sütöde (Acceptance Bakery)

A documentary by Zsuzsa Debre

Jolika, the heroine of the documentary, decided one day to treat the children who were coming home from school to some fresh biscuits. The scene is Tabán, a severely disadvantaged, segregated neighbourhood in Monor. Her bakery was soon to become emblematic.
Jolika and three other Romany women studied business management and pastry cooking, attended community development courses, and a year later founded Acceptance Bakery. Now they sell more than 40 kg of pastry every week. They accept orders, sell their products on the market, and supply events with cakes. With its sustainable business, the Acceptance Bakery supports, and sets an example for, the community, contributing to the improvement of social conditions in the neighbourhood, and increasing the chances of its dwellers in the labour market.
Before and after the screenings, from 10 am to 6 pm visitors can buy the products of the Acceptance Bakery, and will be served by the founders themselves.
