Martin Kohlstedt

One of the most compelling composers of his generation, the German Martin Kohlstedt characteristically defines himself by way of opposites. Two solo records summarize his work to date, and they are entitled Tag and Nacht, respectively.

His first concert in Hungary promises to be an unforgettable experience for those who like Philip Glass and Joep Beving, as well as sensitive, expressive playing on the piano. Especially because Martin never plays on a stage, and on A38 Boat he too will be seated in the auditorium.

Kohlstedt’s minimalist formal idiom and electronic experimentation make for a playful abandon, while also allowing a view into an infinitely sensitive and fragile world. “Every key pressed is in itself a frame from a film,” wrote Vice.
